- There are many more songs, but they all need to be converted to audio and encoded before I can start with uploading them. Also note that all this is intended for previewing purposes only. The relative sounding quality is substantively lowered due to high compression ratios.
- PitchFork the little program that can change speed and pitch of music in Winamp. Extract dsp_pitchfork.dll to your winamp/plugins folder and enable it in the Winamp preferences (DSP/FX tab). In the pitchfork window appeared drag the slider left up and down to change relative pitch and tempo of playback. You can do it realtime of course. It may be really useful to change mood and feel of music. This plugin is freeware. I've put it in here simply because some compositions of mine were originally written in slower or faster tempo and this small Winamp plugin solves the "problem". Also you can find it quite fascinating to experiment this way with any sort of music. Highly recommended. Enjoy!
- In order to play mp3pro get the latest mp3pro player at mp3pro zone (either standalone or Winamp plugin). Players that do not support mp3pro decode it as 22kHz audio instead of 44.1kHz. Note that this is the only way to provide a high audio quality slightly comparing to a download time
- Another word to say about Ogg Vorbis files. This compressed audio format is not so commonly used as mp3, but it provides higher quality than mp3 can handle at much lower bitrates. So it has been chosen as well. Please download the Ogg Vorbis decoder for Winamp or get some alternative player (such as FMOD) with Ogg Vorbis support, of course if you haven't got it yet... I recommend you to use Winamp, though I've heard a rumour about some Ogg Vorbis Media Player plugin.
- To play MPEGPlus/MusePack files you will need an appropriate decoder plugin for Winamp that can be found here. This audio compression format has been chosen out of same issues as it relates to all the preceeding ones. I really assume that it wouldn't do any harm to you if you download this little plugin collection.
- You may wish to improve the decoding quality of standart mp3 files by using the MAD mp3 decoder plugin for Winamp instead of its native one, which is worse in comparition to results achieved with the Media Player codec, for example. I can't realy perceive what is wrong with it. Stereo image is more dull, lower accuracy or something- I have no idae, but DirectShow filter from microsoft sounds better. You may download the latest release of MAD freely from its author's page.
- You may also find these plugins and some other stuff in my Misc Downloads section. But beware that I cannot update them with new versions as quick as it is done by its developers. Anyway, if you need your time so much you may get all available from me at Misc Downloads...
- I can hear your voiceless question: "why don't you stop at one format?". Well, every file is encoded with care of its final state and FILESIZE, e.g. all music found here is encoded to formats carefully selected for each single file what allows to relatively preserve as much of original sound as possible as well as to keep the file small. So now you can find here files in various popular formats as Musepack aka MPEGPlus, MP3pro, Ogg Vorbis and, believe me, there could be even more. Why not AAC commonly used in Macs for example, MP4 or RealAudio? Whatever, but I'm putting decoder plugins for them to "Misc Downloads" section.
